Burjesta Theatre Workshop – ‘War – What is it good for?’ –
Shakespeare’s History Cycles – Henry V
7pm, Wednesday 5th October Casa Bar Liverpool
We continue our way through the history plays with a look at Shakespeare’s ‘patriotic’ play, Henry V, made famous by Kenneth Branagh and Lawrence Oliviers’ stirring speeches. However the play is a lot more complex than that with Shakespeare employing his unequalled ‘panoramic’ effect, we’ll be focusing on war as viewed from the English side, their French ‘enemies’ and from the point of view of the ordinary soldiers who show far less desire for ‘honour’ than those who are urging them on to fight.
