BURJESTA DELL’ARTE

Burjesta Theatre are beginning, this Wednesday evening, 31st July (and for the five Wednesdays following), a series of workshops where we’ll be looking at Commedia dell’arte, the Italian form of theatre, originating from the 16th century with improvised performances based on sketches or scenarios, looking comically at the status of society and involving a romantic love intrigue (Shakespeare was much influenced by it).

We wont be slavishly ‘following in its footsteps’ but rather to see how the fundamentals and spirit of Commedia may be used in theatre in the 21st century.

Venue is The Casa, Hope Street, Liverpool, L1 9BQ, 7pm. Wear loose fitting clothes appropriate to a physical workshop. 2 quid in, non-actors encouraged to get involved…

See you there!
